Tanimu Foundation scholarships help reduce the barriers to attending college for deserving students. These students are the top twenty graduates of secondary schools or high schools in North Bank, Makurdi in Benue State of Nigeria. They are selected from among a pool of eligible candidates from all schools in the area.
Through these scholarships, the foundation celebrates the achievements of each student and promotes the merits of higher education overall. This message is carried forward throughout the school and the community with the support of community leaders, principals and others.
How the Scholarships are Awarded:
- Every year, secondary schools in North Bank, Makurdi, Benue State, Nigeria recommend their top three graduating students, based on academic achievements and the results of the West African examination council. The best nine 100 level (university) students from various institutions of higher learning, residing in North Bank, Makurdi, Benue State are also included.
- The foundation’s board of directors reviews the list of candidates for specific criteria and selects twelve winners who receive college scholarships for one year.
- Winners are notified by their respective school principals and receive their scholarships from Dr. Tanimu at the Tanimu Foundation Vocational Center.
- No application fee is required. Eligibility at this time is limited to students in North Bank, Makurdi, Benue State, Nigeria.
The Scholarship
- Twelve students are awarded educational scholarships of fifteen thousand Naira (N 15,000.00) each.
- The scholarship amount is intended to help fund one year of study at a university in Nigeria.
