President:
Sabo Tanimu, MD, FASGE, FACP, is the Founder and President of the Tanimu Foundation. Born in Nigeria, he now resides in the United States. He is a Gastroenterologist with a subspecialty in Endoscopic Oncology at the Marshfield Clinic in Weston, Wisconsin, a Fellow of the American society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, Fellow of the American College of Physicians, and an Adjunct Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine and Public Health at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. He graduated from Ahmadu Bello University Zaria in Nigeria in 1995 and moved to the U.S. in 1998 for additional academic pursuits in internal medicine, gastroenterology and endoscopic oncology. He is married with three children and enjoys traveling and adventure.
Vice president & Director of Operations:
Bala Tanimu, CDI, is the Vice President of the foundation and directs all operations in Nigeria. He is an Officer with the Federal Ministry of Interior, Federal Capital Territory in Abuja, Nigeria. He has a Higher National Diploma in Accounting from Federal Polytechnic Nasarawa in Nasarawa State. He served as liaison officer for the National Youth Corps of the Omala Local government of Kogi State in 2008 and was a volunteer with the Road Safety Club of Nigeria in 2008. He is married with three young daughters and enjoys soccer and reading.
Director of Project Development:
Alidu Yusuf Omeje, MSC, is the Director of Finance and operations and a member of the team that executes the foundation’s programs in Nigeria. He serves as technical staff for the Department of Wildlife and Range Management at the University of Agriculture Makurdi in Benue State, Nigeria. He graduated from the University of Maiduguri in Borno, Nigeria in 2003 with a Bachelor’s of Science in Accounting. He also obtained a National diploma in Forestry and Wildlife in 2013. He served as an independent monitor for a WHO initiative involving the poliomyelitis eradication immunization in 2005 in Benue State. He is married with three young children and enjoys travelling and soccer.
General Counsel & Corporate Secretary:
Grace Tony, LLB, who serves as General Counsel, is a lawyer at a private firm with a special practice in legal advocacy and company/commercial law. She holds a law degree from the University of Ilorin, Nigeria and was called to the Nigerian Bar in November 2009. A supporter of health and educational efforts, she has also worked as a volunteer for an HIV/AIDS awareness campaign with the all Christian Youth Group in Makurdi in Benue State. She is married and enjoys community service and mentoring young people.
Executive Advisor :
Alhaji Baba Yusuf Maikyau serves as Executive Advisor and offers his experience as community leader to the foundation. He is the leader of the Hausa community in North Bank, Makurdi in Benue State, Nigeria. He was inaugurated in 1995 and has served in various committees with the state government in promoting peace and unity amongst the populace. He is married with 10 children and several grandchildren.
Director of Community Liaison:
Dahiru Mohammed, is a Director of Community Liaison. He’s an active member of the community and offers his vast experience in promoting the development of youth in the community. He is a teacher and a family man with a wife and 3 children.
